I know its old news, but i feel the urge to comment on the NASA thing. First off, we have 10 FRICKING TRILLION DOLLAR DEBT IN AMERICA. WHY DO WE NEED A PERSON TO WALK ON MARS?! ITS SO FREAKING EXPENSIVE! I think our schools should be more cared for than some silly machine to take pictures of pretty lights in the sky, or step on red soil. NASA alone is most likely the reason our debt doubled in the last couple of years. We beat the Russians to the moon. End of story.

Edit: Also, I am aware that the Jailbreaking rules were created temporarily due to a lawsuit going on. I think It's taking advantage of the company, myself.

Oh yea, never mind the fact that there's a big recession going on and that NASA has had its budget cut by millions and hasn't been able to accomplish much lately. Yeah, let's just blame it on NASA. After all, what has it done for us in the last few decades other than landing people on the moon, launching numerous necessary satellites, contributing greatly to the ISS and helping us learn more about the universe beyond our atmosphere?

    ...the ****?

the reason your(i assume the usa's) debt doubled was because of the economic bailout of banks, other industries and the stimulus bill

which is working, and probably wasn't enough, the tax cuts part of the stimulus bill should've been actual stimulus as well

NASA tends to actually invent a lot of really useful technology (that affects everyday life) as a byproduct of their space stuff. It's not useless at all.

And yeah, NASA has been getting tons of cuts lately. So they aren't involved in the debt increase at all.

Let's not forget that the other half of the debt has been enormously high because of an expensive and imprudent foreign policy.

    Bad news about Christopher Hitchens

Sad news. Word is spread that Christopher Hitchens's throat cancer is terminal.

His attitude remains much the same.

This is a bit old, but it's amusing anyway.

At Comic-Con WBC protested and were met with a parody protest.

It's honestly surprising that parody protests about them don't happen more often.

I think most people are too busy ignoring them to bother parodying them.

Seriously though, WBC is awful and all, but I don't even care enough to give them attention anymore.

The Obama administration vetoed a Security Council resolution to condemn Israel's settlements on the West Bank, with all other members voting in favour.

So I ask you, is the two-state solution really as controversial in the US as one would be led to believe?

Although "Mao's sex life" might not be the best ringer around, there's an article on TIME about Mao's private life.

Basically he lived like a rock star aside a dictator.

Anyway, I suppose it'll take some months for the election to come, doesn't it? Also, currently they are fluctuating rapidly, but honestly if they would rise after some stupid scandal like that.

Though I must say, a government falling over funding for a faith-based organisation is rather bemusing, though of course forgery is the main issue politically. Forging documents like Oda did is a grave crime, after all. It is really beyond me that the Conservatives are so viciously bigoted against Palestinians that not only one of them resorts to thuggery, but that the government even backs it!

I read about it today, if they think they will be able to save money this way then they are too naďve to be trusted with anything. Prisons themselves are not exactly a profitable market, so the only way companies could enrich themselves through prisons is leeching from the state and scraping from the inmates. Which is what occurred in too many US prisons.

I wished they'd elaborate on the canoodle they can get electrolysis without recharging the batteries. It can perform net work and do without recharging.

Actually, I initially thought it was an April FOol's Joke, but it seems it was published nearly a week ago, though of course time stamps can be faked...

    Re: In Other News...

...And in recent news, a severe storm hit the annual Sun 'n Fun festival yesterday (Thursday). Approximately 40 planes were overturned or damaged, some completely totaled.

Several of the vendors' tents were mangled, a lot of merchandise was water-damaged, and a tent apparently collapsed, with people under it. However, nobody was seriously injured.

The new building at the school located there, CFAA, suffered no visible damage, though the American flag that was set up just Tuesday was ripped. Also, several campers and other people in the area were corralled in the building for safety.

Power and landlines to the area were cut off temporarily due to downed power lines, causing the students to be unable to contact their parents except with their cell phone, assuming it could get any connection due to the relative lack of development in the area. No students were harmed as a result of the storm during school hours.

Today, students were asked to help vendors who needed assistance due to the storm, in addition to the volunteering normally done during Sun 'n Fun.
(I know all this because I was there. The sky turned green for a bit...)
(And before you think I'm joking, I am being completely serious here. This ACTUALLY happened, and was APPARENTLY on the national news.)
