    Super Mario Maker

I have created this thread for dedicated discussion about Super Mario Maker, as well as a place to share course IDs made by BitF members, as well as those not made by us.

    Re: Super Mario Maker

Spoiler alert: THIS GAME IS SO ****ING AWESOME!

I haven't made any really creative stages YET, but I'm definitely mulling something over in my mind. I want to see what the creator's true potential is first, though I figured I'd take the 100 Mario Challenge on first.
    Hey, if it unlocks Costumes...

Artwork drawn by Somnax (FA), 5th Gen Pokemon sprite bases made by Pokemon-Diamond (DA).
Spoiler: a few Miiverse drawings. :)

I have plans to create some of the most difficult courses ever designed.

There is so much that can be made in Super Mario Maker.

    Re: Super Mario Maker

The first course I uploaded was my recreation of Brinstar. Sadly, I hit the ceiling pretty quickly so its only a faithful recreation till the endless climb up section. Still, it holds a secret only a true Metroid fan will find.

I made a stage in, oh, 5 minutes. I'm waiting until I have everything before I try to make a well thought out level.

I always enjoy the levels where you either do nothing, or constantly run or walk. I'm gonna make some of those!

I made some courses and uploaded them. I went to do the 100-Mario challenge and the server is down for maintenance. Perfect timing! *grumble grumble*

Anyway, if you see Deep Drop or Cloud Runner, know that I made them! And give a like if you actually like them. :P

Scanning every amiibo for costumes is gonna take a while...

Whoah, dere, pardner. Allow me to inform you that you can unlock all the costumes in-game through the 100-Mario challenge! Of course, you get one for each mode you complete, and apparently there's a limit on how many you can get from each difficulty, so...it'd still take a while. A long while.

Now, then, allow me to share the course I made! I call it...Volcano Bakemeat? I dunno. It's based on a thing a few people here may've noticed me write in my spare time. It has Lucarios, to represent the Lucarios, and high heels, representing...some...things! And spikes, too, because okay the only thing relevent to that is the Lucarios. But hey, I worked on that course for 7 hours!...not including the 1 &1/2 hour spend re-creating the stage from scratch after learning you can't upload stages made by others. Even if the only thing resemblant of the stage I downloaded to make it was a Greninja costume. I mean, Costumes take FOREVER to unlock, and I don't have a Greninja amiibo...

Anyways, here's the code for the stage: 753F-0000-0028-A814. I should warn ye, it's reeaally long. And there's also a little thing in there somewhere, but you'll have to be...well, being observant won't help you find it, really. If you find it, you find it. That's all there is to it.

also it's entirely possible to skip the middle section of the stage entirely, but I wouldn't blame anyone for doing so.

    Re: Super Mario Maker

I finally located my course ID's so here are the few I created.

    Brinstar: B6E2-0000-0032-3B61
    Let's Play Pac-Man: A633-0000-0032-A247
    Animal Crossing: 8-bit Folk: 7745-000-003A-67D8

So far, I'm especially liking the artistic value of re-envisioning a game in the lens of Super Mario. That said, now that I have all the parts, I'm ready to dabble more in creating original scenarios with the game mechanics.

    Re: Super Mario Maker

I made a handful of stages with help of my roommates, usually put about 4-5 hours of work into each of them and uploaded 7 in total. These are the 4 I think turned out best, though the length of the last 3 really make me miss not having checkpoints and thus are probably only good stages for the real pros/people with patience, even if the stages are not overly hard themselves. I try to make them tough but fair, with none of that Kaizo crap.

    Kamek's Fishing Trip: 8D28-0000-0022-78C3
    Forest Graves: 913B-0000-002F-3DC5
    The Peaceful Village: 4381-0000-0038-A8F8
    Bowser Baddy Base: 0A9E-0000-003A-0A09

Especially try and find the secret of the village~

I'll be giving the stages in this thread a try myself too, of course.

    Re: Super Mario Maker

This game is great, and it's so fun to see your ideas actually flesh out as you mess around with everything. I had no idea I would have so much fun making Mario levels! I'll have to try out some of these levels on this thread.

By the way if you want to try out some of mine here are the ID numbers.

    Use Bombs Wisely!
    039D-0000-0025-53EB

    Sassy Goombas
    8DFF-0000-001D-A2FB

    Boo's Fun House!
    6864-0000-003A-993E

The Use Bombs Wisely stage has some hidden slippy costumes in it. And there are three different ways to beat Boo's Fun House.

Good job Kirbinator! I still have no idea how Nintendo decides to feature certain levels, but thats awesome they chose you.

I really enjoyed the courses you made Zant, the ones I've played have been challenging but fair which is just my style. I liked your courses so much that I decided to follow you

Here is another level I just finished up today.

Awesome boss, Rocket Dog! I know I probably could've run under him, but
    defeating Bowser with Yoshi's fireballs
was awesome. There's so many little touches here that it's half discovery and half game-making.

I've uploaded a few courses. Have a look:

    Spiny Track Minefield: D76C-0000-0048-E1E6
    Kuribo Plains: 0D80-0000-0044-EDBE
    Above and Below: D1F6-0000-0040-7EEA
    Kamek's Warship: 07A6-0000-0030-1D62
    Ascension Convention: AFF4-0000-002A-BBBA
    Spiky Speedway: 8F06-0000-001D-8204
    Cloud Runner: 2C73-0000-001C-7A4A

Thanks Corey! I'm glad you liked the fight with Bowser at the end, you fought him the way I wanted people to so that makes me happy. I tried to make it a fun fight rather than a frustrating one.

By the way I just finished my newest level today...

    Mario Meets Metroid
    2324-0000-005B-4E83

I wanted this level to feel like Mario stumbled upon a cave from Metroid. I hope you guys like it!

Wotta coincidence, I started following you too 'cuz your levels are quite rocking as well, hehe.

Anyway, I updated Bowser Baddy Base so it is a lil' bit more forgiving, here's the updated code: FE06-0000-0076-E41C
There's a cleverly hidden checkpoint now

And I also made a new stage I'm quite happy with, Crash Course 2: Bobomb Battleship: 946C-0000-0061-ED50
That one is a sequel to this one: DB24-0000-002E-C3FF if yer curious. Not one of my best, but a serviceable stage nevertheless I think.

No, it really kinda is, thems some tricky jumps. And that jerk twomp at the end is also reason for many to bail out on the stage me thinks. I know I did, hehe. Even left a lil' comment there~

Anyway, something weird is going on with my 2 most popular stages. They've gotten a ton of traffic lately, but almost no stars to go and no new comments either. One of 'em has been stuck on 16 stars since it had 40ish plays, and now it's at 80. People have always been stingy with stars (considering I see people die a lot to a single paragoomba when they have a raccoon leaf in one of my stages, 'tis prolly 'cuz a lot of them absolutely suck) but it seems to have gotten quite a bit worse.
