Have you had any other fun stuff regarding chemistry?

Okay, are there any required languages for that direction? What courses in systematics and comparative religion have you had so far?

All right, what did your friends do at such a time?

Yes, there'll be alchemy, but you probably won't have to learn about what reactions alchemy predicted. Also expect a lot of phlogiston, if you choose to take it.

Should I think of Fermi estimates when you write about your professor's questions? Organic chemistry is quite nice, isn't is?

All right, so it is actually a very varied religious studies curriculum. I suppose German (and French to a lesser degree) would be crucial for any specialisation, though. What subjects do you like best?

I'm glad you liked the neutered Hulk. How was your birthday?

It is quite comfortable in there, I hope you don't mind me visiting.

Ah, alright. Good luck with your endeavors!

    Mm, have you been busy?

    No problem.

Been a while since we talked, huh?

They offer no alchemy? How outrageous. How do you like the chemistry courses, though?

Oh, so they don't have a curriculum that requires everybody to study these languages plus basic courses in all four specialisations. That's curious.

I'd recommend learning both Hebrew and Arabic if you ever end up learning Arabic, however. It'd help a lot to know both, or at least two different Semitic languages.

What music are you into at the moment? Prog, post-rock and jazz? Post-prog jazz fusion?

    And then there is this:

Spoiler: It's a secret to everyone

Yes, I suppose it's from the nineteenth century? The Puritans wouldn't have liked pageantry like that much after all and it looks like Gothic revival.

Okay, are you in your first year of both studies? How easy is it to combine the two studies?

That paper is rather interesting. Of course, Jonah is itself an odd but interesting little gem. Have you started with ancient Greek yet (supposing you'll take Biblical Hebrew next year)?

I suppose I should interpret "spend a fair amount of time on the music scene" as playing gigs with bands?

It looks very English, if you ask me.

Would you mind if I ask what occupies you these days?

for me a lot of it is like... okay, the tldr of it was that i was in a relationship with ark for a long while but that fell apart and i'm glad i'm no longer on speaking terms with him
but it's weird for him not to be here even though im glad i dont have to engage with him ever again?

it's not really about either, more of a sociological perspective - social theories, how the law works socially, all that - and it's a good major if a repetitive one
and thanks for the interest! the novel is about... well, i like to say it's an urban fantasy about sin and bureaucracy, which is pretty vague, so a more accurate description would be to say it's about a straight white guy coming to terms with the fact that he is complicit in the system's failings, because to a degree they're his failings too. it's mutated considerably since i first thought of it, haha, but this is definitely for the best.

i have no problems with vague or wordy, and i definitely wouldnt wanna force that out of you anyway
(it sounds like you've worked really hard to get where you are, though, so massive kudos for that)
i think people really underestimate how hard discipline and motivation are, though; i've always really struggled with both of those (and never really made the most of my talents either, which i think i regret), and i guess discipline and motivation is just getting through the stuff you don't want to because you have a bigger positive reason overpowering whatever else

oh man, you're speaking my language
i'm going through a degree i don't particularly enjoy, feel somewhat socially isolated either among my uni friends or on bitf, and am going to have to get a job i probably won't like either, so i can stay in melbourne
and even after i graduate? my career prospects consist entirely of "writing, and hoping like hell i get picked up", which is also pretty grim
so i guess all i can do is look to the future and hold on to my dream

Fine over here as well, with its ups and downs. Which offers education in its own way, yeah.

Are you still based in New Hampshire?
  15. View Conversation
    yeah, i feel you
my participation has definitely been dying off too, and its not even that im busy so much as that, i dunno, this place isnt the same

i guess i could give you a quick rundown? just finished my second year of a three-year bachelor of arts, double-majoring in history and criminology
after i slog that out (plus maybe honours) im outta uni for sure, i wanna be a writer (and i currently have two-thirds of a first draft of a novel, which is something)
and yourself? what are you up to :o
