I'm getting HeartGold, solely because it has Mankey.
Trashed my bro with my Platinum team yesterday. Now I have 2 teams(Named 'em Team Fossile Ice Flower in Pearl and Team Twilight in Plati) that can destroy his team(I named 'em Team Fire & Ice Haters, he dunt like it) in Diamond. All that training finally turned into bragging rights. He says he still has a trick up his sleeve of which I know nuthing about, but somehow I doubt his Drifblim can take down Houndoom and Weavile. I hope he isn't talking about that one.
Anyhow, I'll go for SS, my bro buys HG. In all other fights we had we already knew most of the team of the other, and the levels weren't very balanced. If we both buy and play those games at the same time I can prove him I'll always be better then him.
Oh, and I go for SS 'cuz of Gulpin, Skarmory, Vulpix, Ledyba and Mawile. They're weak and useless, but darn it they're authentic.
... Nah, just kidding, only half of them suck.
I was going to say. Skarmory is amazing, and Ninetales is pretty great too.
I'm going to get HG because I got Gold. That is to say, when I go buy it SS is not cheaper.
I plan on buying a DS just for HG/SS.
I'll probably be getting SS first, but I plan on getting both games because Johto is so awesome
I hope that the legendary beasts will be easier to catch in HG/SS though.

I'll probably get both games at one point, but SS is definetly first. Oh the memories my Silver version brings, but now it is broken, never to be heard from again. Oh well, SS will be good. Skarmory, Typhlosion, Miltank, and Politoed. Does anyone have a suggestion for a Ground Type?

I'm getting HG, if only because of Arcanine. I can get more Skarmory in Diamond, and I never liked Ursaring THAT much.

I had that exact same problem when I imported Sapphire out of impatience.

And I'm going for Soul Silver, as the GTS/Wi-Fi trading pretty much makes "Oh noes it doesn't have [insert Pokémon's name here]!" redundant. I'm gonna trade for a Growlithe, stick it in the daycare, get a baby Growlithe (I like having my OWN Pokémon:P) and then I'll train it up.
What can I say, I love the little guy.

I never played the original one, so I'm having high expectations for this one. I'm not into online battles. I'm wondering if things from D/P/Ptt will arrive in it (ex. Poffins, contests, ect.)? Also the fact that you can visit the Kanto Region.

Anyway. Looks like I'll be getting the opposite of whichever version my brother gets. He keeps flip-flopping between the two, so I won't know until we go buy 'em, and anyway I'll probably wind up playing his version as well as mine because he gets bored easily.
Me and my brother have a similar case. We get both versions of a game, he plays one and I play the other, once my bro gets bored with his version, I start a new file and use that to get version exclusives and Pokemon only available through a trade. If/when I get HG and SS, I'm not really sure which one I'm gonna be playing.
My secret pleasure is to use Sharpedo as a lead.
It works better than you would think.
That is the same with my sister and I. She would get girl-ish version while I get the boy-ish version.

Oh lord. Recently playing through Platinum again in preparation for HG/SS. I traded over a whole bunch of pokemon and planned on using for the run from Diamond.
In retrospect, I probably should have remembered that when you trade pokemon, they instantly become suicidal unless they think you're cool enough. At Eterna right now. Thank god I'll be getting my second badge soon.
I obtained my Shiny Pichu via Wi-Fi. Now to wait for Soul Silver, when I shall obtain my Spiky Eared Pichu, and I'll begin to build up my Pikachu family team.
I'm thinking of also using Diamond to obtain ANOTHER Shiny Pichu, and maybe I'll evolve it into Raichu so it's awesomerer.
Is the whole Shiny Pichu move set any good? I believe it has Endeavor and Volt Tackle, which seem interesting.
Volt tackle's good if you can handle recoil; it's pretty much Double-Edge with electric typing and a chance to paralyze.
Lol and don't you mean PIKACHU COLORED PICHU? :P
I just got the Jirachi from the event at Gamestop on Platinum. It's already on Lv. 53.
