I know this will be meaningless to most people outside Britain here, but this place is seriously lacking in Marmite discussion.

So. Marmite! Personally, I love it. Have it with some toasted buttered crumpets, yes indeed. Such a classic combination for breakfast.

So. Love it or hate it?

I don't really like it, but get inexplicable cravings for it sometimes. Then I eat some and find it almost repulsive but also kind of enjoy it in a perverse way.
I hate to think what a psychologist would tell me that means.

For you Americans, here is an American comedian's description of marmite:

I've had Marmite before. It wasn't that bad.

Except here it's terrible.

I had Vegemite a couple times back when I lived in Australia (I think they are the same). It was pretty much awful.

Ah, I love Marmite is Terrible

I were in Heathrow once, only time I've been actually, when I happened to witness the bizzare spectacle of two barmen - one of whom was quite camp - trying to explain marmite to an American.

Fortunatley for the barman, the American had tried Vegemite: "It's like vegemite but stronger."

A stronger Vegemite? Really?

Seeing as I've never really liked Vegemite, I don't see much hope for me liking Marmite.

I've never had Vegemite. Which is to be expected, I guess.

But yeah, Marmite is seriously a love-it-or-hate-it thing.
Too much can bet too much, though. Even I can't stand it if it's dolloped on too thickly.

But Pa might not.

I don't love it but i don't hate it.

Can't say I've consumed either Vegemite or Marmite, but I've at least smelled Vegemite....and it wasn't pleasant.

Marmite is ****ing awesome.

No more needs to be said.

I've never tried it and since it seems to be something of an aquitred taste, I am afeard me ingesting it would lead to quite some mess.

Which won't include rainbows.
