At NoBrandCon last month, an enterprising young fellow asked me if there were any Nintendo characters that I’ve wanted to put into a comic but haven’t been able to yet for some reason. And strangely, I immediately thought of Balloon Fighter, star of a not-particularly-well-known arcadey NES game. I like the guy, but I feared his material was just too obscure.

Well, here’s the Balloon Fight comic! This one pretty much just requires very basic knowledge of the game to get, although now I’m worried that some readers may think that’s Mario in the first panel (overalls, bulbous nose, portly stature)! Those guys look pretty darn similar, leading to the title of this comic and the extra sandwich panel near Balloon Fighter for hopefully enough clarification to go around.
