It seems the British economy is growing stagnant. As in, the growth is steadily decreasing.

A man from Perth (Scotland) has been convicted to 27 months in prison and has been banned of using the internet for 25 years, for possession of pornographic material of children. This means he may not possess any computer, telephone or other computing equipment with connection to the internet. The man is a repeat offender and is currently 65 years old. His house was raided by the police after he came home from a trip to Thailand.

I believe that someone had just attempted to cream pie Rupert Murdoch at a hearing at the House of Parliament

Unfortunately, it appears that most of the pie was recoiled, and the person who attempted to "assault" him was carried of the premises. I'm just hearing this off the fly, so it may not be 100% true.

EDIT: the person who tried to pie him tweeted this before he did it.

Yes, I just saw footage of it on an opinion program, it was a custard pie and he wasn't hit. You also saw Murdoch's wife going ape&&&&.

Yes, it appears that she pie'd the person back with her palm. I think that the assault was accused on the wrong person.

Well, our fabulous Congress has reahced a compromise on the debt ceiling. "Compromise" is a very loose term, as it amounted to "give us everything we want without anything you want".

Compromise indeed. At least we've avoided completely imploding. Here's to hoping we can actually do something about our debt.

Compromise indeed does not cut it. It is sheer hypocrisy that the Republicans hammer so hard on reducing debt after making it surge with Bush. Since Nixon, the Republicans have done nothing but increasing debt when being in executive power.

France will extradite Noriega to Panama. Noriega was the CIA-propped up military dictator of Panama during the eighties until his narcokleptocracy became too embarrassing for Washington and he was removed under George H.W. Bush by an intervention by the American armed forces. He has been imprisoned in the US for drug-trafficking, was sentenced in absentia in France for money-laundering and now he will be tried in Panama for human rights violations.

I dislike political discussions, but I have been getting the vibe of:
Republicans: For the corporation by the corporation.
Democrats: Yo, yo, yo! We heard you like government, so we put government in your government, so we can govern while we govern.

What ever happened to "For the people, by the people"? This discussion should perhaps go to another thread though.

I think I'll vote for a third party candidate.

While I am not nearly as disgusted by the Democrats as I am by the Republicans, I think that I could not bring myself to vote for either of the two major political parties in the US. I think more awareness needs to be raised about third parties. The main reason that they cannot win is that everybody believes that they cannot win. If less people believed that and more were willing to cast votes for them then they could actually gain some influence. It would be far better than the way voting is currently, with nearly everyone I know picking one of two sides and calling it "The lesser of two evils."
