This is usually a pretty useful place to ask questions like this.
But while I'm here:
On every user their userpage, directly under their profile picture is a button that says "+ Add as Friend".
Simply click on this handy dandy link and you'll send a friend request to the user that corresponds to the page where you clicked the "add as friend" button.
It's easy really.
But what if they dont know me?

I was'nt going to send a friend request.

If you don't know them, don't send them a friend request.
And if you do by accident, they can always decline.

But what if I add someone as a friend, and they don't know me?

They can accept it or reject it. Some people accept all friend requests. It's their choice.

what is the point of friend requests? so you can add them as a friend
Do you consider them as friends? If yes, send them a friend request to see if it's mutual. If no, don't send the friend request.
What do you do if someone sends you a friend request? If you want to be their friend, you accept it. If you don't, then deny it.
How much of this is simple logic? I'll let you work that out.
