Restarted Homestuck, just got to Act 5. Goddamn, is it confusing. Especially without the lack of the ability to view [s] comics (iPad lol).

You really should read the [s] ones, major story stuff tends to happen in those, and they tend to be the best parts.

They're probably on youtube if you can't use a normal computer for whatever reason.

Yeah probably, I would have next to no idea what is going on without them.

Being a man of high intelligence, if I do say so myself, (cue groans from the crowd) I didn't read the recaps. Or rather, I read part of the first one, and when it both wasn't telling me anything I didn't already know, I promptly stopped. The only concept I didn't fully understand from initial reading was how the paradox clones produced genetic copies and combinations. Because of this, a simple MSPA wiki article solved my problem promptly.
