Smile Planned All Along, My Video Game Review Blog

    www.plannedallalong.blogspot.com

(Moderators, if this is the wrong place for this thread, feel free to move it to the correct section of the forum.)

So yeah, I finally decided to open a separate thread for my blog instead of using the OTCD thread.

Why Planned All Along? Well... As technology went on, games became more complicated, they became longer, and with this the developers had to work more on the story aspect of the games. And a story had to be planned in the early stages of a video game, seeing as the programming will be entirely based around that aspect. Thus, the story was planned all along. And since the story has become an important part of a lot of games, I take more time discussing a game's story.

I'll use this thread to post links to the latest reviews, and also links to the other articles that might be interesting as time passes.

How To Train Your Dragon (Wii)

Licensed games... yeah, they can be fun, but usually they're not that great. This one is alright, I guess. I just dislike some of the odd choices in gameplay.

Did the Raving Rabbids ruin Rayman?

Every Monday, I tackle a more serious subject related to video games and franchises, in the form of editorials. If you have ideas for future editorials, let me know. But please, keep it to games on the Nintendo systems or, well, Nintendo franchises.

(I post them on Sunday nights because I have school very early in the morning on Mondays.)

Edit: My blog is now 100 visitors away from reaching 2,000 visitors! Awesome!

    The Mario Paint Composer!

Wednesdays = Cool Stuff or Fun Stuff. Today, I show how a number of people have created absolutely IMPRESSIVE pieces by copying well-known songs into the Mario Paint Composer. The results sound great. Of course, they're not perfect. But who cares? Nothing's perfect, after all!

    Super C!

I review the NES classic Super Contra. I'm not negative towards it, though that game does have a bit too many bubbles...

Edit: Next week, an editorial on a game series Monday, and then we'll be in October. October is Poké-Month on Planned All Along!

To celebrate the arrival of Pokémon's sixth generation, I dedicate a whole month to Pokémon. Editorials, fun stuff, reviews... All about Pokémon. The month will start with the Top 12 Pokémon that could get new evolutions. Then will come reviews for Pokémon Snap, Pokémon FireRed, and Pokémon Rumble. Last but not least, a special thing will be up on the blog for Halloween!

Top 12 Pokémon families that could get new evolutions/pre-evolutions in Gen 6!

Okay, so this list is all subjective, but I still built it from the collective opinions of the forum's users here, my Poké-maniac friend, and a dozen Youtube videos. The result is a pretty good list. Includes pictures of Fakemon created by fans, just to give examples of what could be those evolutions or pre-evolutions.

Why Do I Dislike Mega Evolutions?

I don't HATE Mega Evolutions, I'm just... not a big fan. But my reasons changed as the weeks went on. To make an easy pun, you could say my reasons evolved.
    Again, that's all opinion-based.

    Fake Pokémon, Fakemon!

What I like most about Pokémon's fan community? All the fake Pokémon they create! Some of them are brilliant. Others are, well... not as great, but the good ideas are really good.

One of the best Pokémon spin-offs from Generation 1!

So much that in my image search, I found a demi-dozen different pictures of fake games called Pokémon Snap 2. Seriously, a lot of Pokémon fans want a sequel to Snap, it was THAT good.

Did Pokémon's Stopries Play Their Better Cards Too Son?

What I mean by this is... look at the villainous Teams! First a terrorist organization, then people who want to destroy the planet, then some guy wants to destroy the whole universe... You see what I mean? That last one was in Gen 4. Wouldn't this have been better for a final Gen instead of Gen 4? Just a thought...

Re: Planned All Along, My Video Game Review Blog

So, Halloween is approaching, so I decided I'd review a few horror movies this week.

Starting with Carrie, the film that came out yesterday in theaters.

    http://plannedallalong.blogspot.ca/2...rrie-2013.html

Look out however, this review is more serious and has more coarse language than my usual reviews.

Part 2 of this big review of Pokémon FireRed!

Once again, I make more jokes about the game, as I go through the Story Mode.

I love the joke I did about the Rocket Game Corner's Porygon.

    Aaaaaaaaaand.... Part 3!

This big review is over, finally! ...It's kinda ironic that I finish this review while playing Pokémon HeartGold, the second main series Pokémon game I ever owned, while FireRed was the first one.

    Pokémon Rumble!

One of the Pokémon spin-offs that you can buy on the WiiWare. The only Pokémon game you can buy on the WiiWare, actually. Aside from the sequel, of course...
Is the first Pokémon Rumble good?

    The Uncharted

A spooky story as my blog's Halloween Special. And yes, it's about Pokémon. I hope you enjoy this "fanfiction", because I made sure it would be very, very good.

I've been following this blog for a while now and I've really been enjoying Pokemonth, especially the FireRed review and this story. Wow... that story was too creepy not to comment on. I loved that story because I've never seen a story executed like that, a well-written story with a unique idea, about gamebreaking glitches, the scariest thing in the game. Besides Pokemonth, I think this blog is a great way to introduce others to obscure games that others haven't played before.

Re: Planned All Along, My Video Game Review Blog

Wow, thanks! It's great to finally get a comment on the blog as a whole!

Yeah, The Uncharted basically explores the game-breaking glitch as if MissingNo was some sort of reality-warping entity (The Entity... where have I heard of MissingNo as this before...). I tried to show what the game-breaking glitch is like from the protagonist's point of view. The point of view we never get in the game because the protagonist is silent. And a point of view we'd never get, because the creature is a glitch, unplanned, and thus the game would not have anything programmed to talk about it.

While I'm here, I posted another article this morning. Overly-Long Levels: Good or bad?
