    The Obituary.

SNF EDIT: I'm using this thread to recreate the thread we had on the old forum. Basically this thread is now for discussing any celebrity/whatever deaths that occur.

Bad news...Dennis Hopper, the actor who played Bowser in the Mario Bros movie, died today.

Me thinks Matt should do another tribute like with Lou Albano.

I don't understand why so many don't like the live action SMB movie. It was amazing. It was different.

And Dennis Hopper was in multiple awesome movies as well.

I love it because how over the top and bad it is......like Mushroom Kingdom being screwed up with gangs, bars, and that. It's great!

    Re: So Long, King Bowser!

Technically he was "King Koopa" in the movie. For some reason. He was always known as Bowser in the west, he was Koopa in Japan.

Anyways, I doubt Super Mario Bros. is the movie Hopper wants to be remembered for, but this is a gaming-centric forum so it's kinda understandable. :P

Although I too agree it's a "so bad it's good" type of movie. I watched the whole thing all the way through, which must be a good thing. More than I can say for Street Fighter, which bored me to tears. The acting wasn't even that bad either.

    So yeah, RIP Dennis Hopper.

First Gary Coleman, now you. It appears it's happening again guys.

John Wooden died at age 99 today. I guess he can be with his wife eternally now.

First death in a while that has made me sad.

    Re: The Obituary.

I liked the SMB movie at first, but looking back, I realize how awful it really was. It was kinda cool, but it didn't tell a good story, left us at a cliffhanger, and was terribly inaccurate. The only accurate part of the movie I can think of is the Bob-omb.

that said, I was kinda sad to hear that Dennis Hopper died. He played his part pretty well actually( y'know, aside from "bob-omb" and "monkey") and I hope he rests in peace.

Hmmm, so I'm just posting in this thread to express some grief over the death of Satoshi Kon, normally I wouldn't do this but he was the director, of some of my favorite movies like Paprika and Tokyo Godfathers, as well as other masterpieces like Perfect blue and the anime paranoia agent. So I am just expressing grief that such a talented man died at such a relatively young age.

Sorry for the double post, but the comedy world has lost an incredibly funny man today. Greg Giraldo died today of an accidental overdose. According to a few sites, it wasn't a suicide attempt. He died from complications of the overdose. T_T RIP

Yeah, don't post things like that.

I don't like Beck either, but that's a mean thing to say.

The name shouldn't ring too many bells plus it's really late, but cartoonist J P Morgan died December 30th, aged 53. He was the creator of Fission Chicken, a satirical superhero comic which I had the pleasure of reading and very much enjoyed.

The first non-secularist Turkish PM died recently, Necmettin Erbakan.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-12590773

Note that he did not have official ties to the currently ruling, non-secularist AKP.

He seems to have been quite the man of the thumbs up.

    Oh no.

I just found out yesterday. Brian Jacques died last month on February 5th. He was 71.

If you don't know, he was the author of the classic Redwall series. Unfortunately, he died of a heart attack, leaving the book he was currently writing unfinished. Dang, it's like Douglas Adams all over again...
