This is the Costume Thread! Here one is able to talk about costumes, be they for Halloween or conventions or birthday parties or funerals! Here you can post pictures of costumes, post sketches of concepts for costumes, talk about the materials you used to make a costume, ask for suggestions on what to use to make a costume, request feedback on your costume, costumes costumes costumes!

To kick things off, here's the costume I recently made for Halloween, of Resident Evil 3's Nemesis (http://images.wikia.com/villains/images/1/1a/Resident-evil-nemesis2.jpg).

http://i1203.photobucket.com/albums/bb395/CommodoreJam/nemcostume.jpg

I think that for my first big costume project (and the budget), it turned out really well. The mask began life as a Freddy Kreuger (http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/public/LA-G0T0kAdjVOTV-g_toGfBBKEG_g1twnsxYf3txAg3mYB1ShyCQf9LT6Q2MyeHRc3 X1hNhXHxnY_Mpv1c47pa7hM-JhER_x4pmEwi51-IwV3datwE2Bg3PIY-8k_xU4Ar2-HlGDrXl4qM0hu0Wew1Vz31G_JOZU18Y) mask. After gluing the right eye shut, I put a line of staples down the face for looks (they don't show up well in photos). I also folded the nose inside the mask and glued it shut, then followed suit with the ears. For visibility reasons, I then enlarged the left eyehole.

Next comes Nemesis's weird fleshy neck tubes. I picked up a length of spare vacuum hose (http://www.cachebeauty.com/blades/clipper_vacuum_hose.jpg) and spray paint it a nice, deep red. After that, I cut two sections of it to length and, once finding the right postioning (took days), I zip tied them to a dark gray shirt.

Finally, the bazooka. Went down to a hardware store and picked me up a nice big length of pvc pipe. I then drilled a hole in the bottom of it, and shoved a smaller piece of pipe inside to serve as the handle. The sight was actually a...nozzle of some sort that came with the vacuum hose I used for neck tubes. Stuck that on with Gorilla tape, spray painted the whole deal, and boom. A pretty nice looking cheap prop to go with a pretty nice looking cheap costume.

No pictures because I'm lame BUT I'm cycling through two costumes, Eponine (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_MuFzEyYUC3k/TMxIwjdfx0I/AAAAAAAAAIQ/5wEcqIDGaLA/s1600/Sam+As+Eponine.jpg) for most things, and Galinda (http://www.galindaswardrobe.com/pictures/Galinda/4.jpg) for a few others, because her costumes was just too easy to put together.

Galinda was real easy. Take white vest and A-line skirt with lots of pleats, add white beret, strappy shoes, and clutch bag and BOOM, you're da Shiz-era Galinda~!

Eponine was a little more tough, but not too much. Puffy, orange-brown hat, gray top, and some beige pants. Add giant belt around mid-riff, beige overcoat, and YOU BE LOOKIN GOOD
You could also shred the coat a little to give it that distressed look, but I just can't find it in me to tear perfectly good clothes.

As you know, I'm going to be the Jack-o-Lanswer (http://ssbbrawlerbitf.deviantart.com/art/Jack-o-Lanswer-262274219) for Halloween. I have a fake pumpkin that emulates being a real pumpkin in that it can be carved and looks and feels similar to a real one. I'm going to carve out ovals for eyes, then paint the triangles for the eyes of a typical jack-o-lantern as well as painting the mouth.

I'm going to utilize Velcro in some way so that the pumpkin will turn along with my head so I don't suddenly turn and go blind until I adjust the pumpkin. Anyways, my mom is going to sew the cape using purple cloth for the exterior and black cloth for the interior. Both cloths have a silky-velvet look, it's shiny somewhat, but not obtrusively shiny.

This weekend, I'm going to carve and paint a broomstick to make it look like a pencil lance.

I can't wait to get pictures of it and show it to you all.

If I can get a red hat and a brown backpack, my blue and yellow striped shirt that I own could make me go as Ness. I also would need a baseball bat too. I haven't really done anything about my costume yet, as I really never planned anything yet. I'm hoping I may be able to go as Ness for a day, which would be interesting.

My friend and I were thinking about making a full Halo armor build (the MkVI armor plus the M90 Shotgun for me and the MA5C Assault Rifle for my friend, plus M6G Pistols for the both of us) and going to some Halloween parties looking quite awesome.
Unfortunately, we found that we didn't have the time to start, let alone finish, before October came around the corner. It'll be awesome if we get it done for next year though.

The finished armor will look something like this, if we are careful:

Quick question, dudes.
What's a good place for buying monster teeth and other such nonsense?

I'd search out a store that specialises in acting/party costumes and props. Be wary that some of those stores can be ungodly expensive so look for an inexpensive one, but they are likely to have teeth that won't make you regurgitate. It is always good to ask whether people often feel sick when wearing them and how to prevent that, though.

BA-BUMP-TSS

This Halloween, I actually have a plan since we might be able to dress up during school. This idea has been swimming around for a while, and I think I might be able to pull it off with time and store shopping.

I decided that I want to dress up as the Monopoly Man (http://www.boston.com/sports/football/patriots/extra_points/assets_c/2010/07/monopoly%20man-thumb-250x350-16843.gif), from the famous Monopoly Board game. It seems easy to pull off, so I decided that I'm gonna try and be a little unique with it. Firstly, I need the getup of a fancy suit and tophat and whatnot; I don't think I'm allowed to bring canes, since they're considered "weapons" in my school apparently. As for the mustache, chances are, I'll cut out white felt or print it off from the internet.

I also plan to get two sacks and slap dollar signs on it, and stuff them with Monoply money in it. Then randomly give it out to strangers at school.

It's that, or I'm gonna get a bunch of "Go to jail" cards and hand them out to random people. If they don't want it, then I'll give them a pair of dice and wait until they roll doubles.

just kidding about the last two
well maybe i'm still debating

DUDE. THIS.

As for me, just going as a mad scientist. I got an awesome crazy hair wig, goggles, and boots. Might also get a beaker and stick dry ice in.

One problem: I don't know what to do with the labcoat. I know I'm going to shred it, but IDK what to splatter on it: green paint (like ooze) or red paint (blood). Thoughts?

This Halloween I've had several ideas floating around my head that I can't decide from, among them were Albert Wesker, Travis Touchdown, Arthur (Ghosts n Goblins), Deadpool, Duff Man, Frank West and the Wright Brothers, I honestly don't know which I'll go with, Ghost Rider was another idea, but that would be pretty difficult to find and/or make.

I'm not going trick-or-treating this year, but I will be dressing up to give out candy at our house. I'll probably wear the same costume I've worn for the past few years, my Doorknob costume from a production of Alice in Wonderland I was in.

My brother Aristotle had a great idea for a costume a couple of years ago: Pizza Delivery Guy. Real simple, and it got a few good chuckles.

While I probably won't be Trick or treating, There's a couple of events going on at school that allow and encourage costumes during Halloween.

I was going to go as Slenderman. However, I had my costume planned out since late Spetember, and it only occurred to me recently that there would probably be a crapton of other people going as Slendy, So I'm giving mine a bit of a twist. Since I'm not tall and slender by any account, I'll be going as Slenderman's short, stocky, drunken cousin from Europe: Drinking Benderman. Whenever I see someone else in a Slenderman costume, I'll greet them with "Cousin! Want to go Bowling?"

I'm planning to cosplay as Majin Vegeta this year, but it's been one hell of a challenge so far. After thoroughly checking, I do not have foot-long blonde hair or the 3 inch widow's peak. However, I have found a wig that I need to gel (It will need the power of Super Saiyan to hold that 'do up) and some other materials, but it's been a lot of improve to evade the normally pricey cost of a cosplay. I looked up, no rather a friend gave me a link to, a costume that was priced at about $89.99. Then I realized, this is just a glorified Under Armor with no sleeves with some whits gloves and boots. No way I'm gunna spend all that money. So, I decided to build it myself, I used an Under Armor and pair of navy sweats but the gloves and boots are tricky. I got a pair of costume cowboy boots (they are meant to cover normal sneakers) and wrapped them in white duct tape, which is pretty awesome stuff. The gloves I took from a Power Ranger costume and just covered their logo with more of that magical adhesive. I just need to hope it all works and I can get the wig ready...

I wish I could have gotten the blue contacts to complete it ;-;

Happy Halloween guys!

Today at school was amazing; so many great costumes and times. I was Monoply Man, as you all know, and a lot of people seemed to recognize my character, with the bow tie, mustache, and top hat. I also played a little game with everyone who wanted candy, where what I did was bring my own chance cards and a pair of dice (sadly, I ditched the jail card idea since it'd be sorta mean). Whatever they roll, the number will correspond to a card, which corresponds with a candy I will give them. A lot of people loved my idea, and I played the game with others - friends and strangers - quite a lot. And I especially loved how cool the weather was; I didn't freeze nor burn to death in my costume.

Overall, I had lots of candy, and lots of fun. I'm not going Trick-or-Treating, since I have enough candy myself already. Plus, I'm swamped with so much homework today and I'm super tired from yesterday, too.

Anyways, here's a list of costumes I saw at school:

Astronauts
Vampire Cheerleader
Gothic Cheerleader
Barack Obama
Mitt Romney
many anime characters
a guy dressed as a girl (omg it even had boobs and toenails)
a guy dressed as minnie mouse
Kingdom Hearts girl
Slenderman
Amelia Earhart
jockey
Mario
Marilyn Monroe
cowboy
Skittles
Starbucks worker
tourists
penguins
Grim Reaper with a wrestler mask
scream
Jack Skellington
the one red-haired Frankenstein girl
Carl from Up
the house from Up
purple cat
